100 Book Challenge is a unified system for independent reading designed to supplement any core reading program or to fully satisfy the independent reading block of a balanced literacy curriculum. American Reading Company will keep your students, teachers and families supplied with tens of thousands of the best books in print for young people. Partnering with more than 250 publishers, our reading specialists have evaluated more than 50,000 titles (and counting). Using national standards and the No Child Left Behind criteria, we assign a reading grade level to each book. We also evaluate each book for kid appeal, content-area usefulness and multicultural qualities. The best titles are selected for inclusion in our baskets.

100 Book Challenge color levels are correlated with all other leveling systems. You can use the system to organize all of your existing materials or integrate the program with other systems you are using.
